Julie Carlson Liles, owner of Carlson Design, received her BS degree in Environmental Design in 1993 and worked for three years as a landscape designer performing installations on a variety of residential and commercial sites.
Julie obtained her license as a North Carolina Registered Landscape Contractor and in 1998 entered the NC State University’s Master in Landscape Architecture program. During this time, Julie was involved in public space design that included Fred A. Olds Elementary School, NC State Solar Center, Moore Square & Pullen Park in Raleigh, NC. Julie also worked with professor Robin Moore, a published and internationally recognized child play-space Landscape Architect, on projects such as the Brighton Child Care Center and the ‘Lilliput Labyrinth Children’s Garden’ at the Cape Fear Botanic Garden. During this time, Julie became involved in freelance landscape design.
After graduating from the NCSU School of Design in December 2000, Julie officially incorporated her own landscape design business and since that time she has been providing full-service design consultancy to clients seeking beautiful and functional landscaping solutions. From small spaces to full-scale residential master plans, CDI offers a complete range of services: from the development of the initial design concept, planting and hardscape layout, to installation management.
